Meet Jacie: Floral Design Apprentice/Administrative Assistant

Jacie is a local who graduated from St. Amant High School and has been with The Floral Cottage since December 2018. She is currently attending Southeastern Louisiana University and will graduate next year with a Bachelor of Arts in Management.
Jacie is always positive and up for anything we throw at her! She doesn’t realize how creative she is and is surprised each time she quickly achieves a floral design skill, but the rest of us aren’t. She is so easy to get along with and we are so lucky to have her as part of the team!

How would you describe what you do at floral cottage?
At The Floral Cottage I help with some administrative duties as well as basic floral design. I help assist the other floral designers in any way possible!
What part of your job is most rewarding?
The most rewarding part is when we have a busy week with 4 or more weddings and we all come together and get it done as a team. We look back at the week and it’s like, “wow we did that!” I also enjoy it when the bride loves all of it, and it just feels good to be a part of it even if my part isn’t a big one!
What got you into this field?
I love weddings and all the happiness and love that is in the air when attending or hearing about one. After attending a few myself, I just wanted to be a part of other people’s happiest day and what better way to do that than to help design the flowers for them. I mean what girl wouldn’t want to be around flowers all day!
What is a little known fact about you?
I have a cat named Luna. I would say a known fact about myself is that I laugh at just about anything, but then again when you work with Randee, Joelle, and Mrs. Becky, it’s hard not to laugh!
What is your coffee drink order?
As a beginner with drinking coffee, I like a lot more creamer, sugar and milk than actual coffee.
What is the last book you read?
Does my Finance 381 textbook count?
What is the last Netflix show you binged?
This wasn’t on Netflix, but on Hulu I binged watched this season of the Bachelorette! Honestly, I don’t know how people could wait a whole week between each episode!
What is your favorite type of flower?
I really love Dahlia’s!!!
